Powell and Vicaut round off the MEETING AREVA in style

Asafa Powell beat his season’s best in the 100m to take the win at the MEETING AREVA, whilst Jimmy Vicaut, second, equalled the European record.

What better way to round off the MEETING AREVA than a top-flight 100m and a European record equalled by a Frenchman? Though Asafa Powell won the star event of the meeting in superb fashion in 9’’81, his best time of the season, Jimmy Vicaut had tremendous screen presence, finishing second and equalling the European record set by Portuguese runner Francis Obikwelu (9’’86) some eleven years ago. American Michael Rodgers secured third place, in 9’’99, whilst Frenchman Emmanuel Biron (8th in 10’’18) and Guy-Elphege Anouman (9th in 10’’32) benefited from this top-notch race to beat their personal best times.
