Do you love a great show? You’re not alone! Wherever he goes, Noah Lyles creates an electric atmosphere inside a stadium. On Sunday 28 June, he’ll be competing in the 100 m at the Charléty Stadium for the Wanda Diamond League’s Meeting de Paris. What is more, the Olympic 100 m champion is already familiar with the French capital’s 13th district since he’s participated in the Meeting de Paris twice before and bagged as many wins. In 2019, he breezed through the 200 m to snatch victory in 19’’65, just months before securing the first of his four world champion titles over this distance. In fact, this lightning quick time still stands as the meeting record. In 2023, he also posted a commanding performance in the 100 m in 9’’97, with his trademark, high-energy finish. In all, Lyles boasts 23 Diamond League successes since 2018, together with eight world titles.

And talking of Paris, the athlete from Florida had a thrilling Olympic week in 2024, which saw him take the win in the 100 m and third place in the 200 m. “I’ve been to Paris on three previous occasions and I have fond memories of all of them, he enthuses. The atmosphere at the Stade de France two years ago was simply incredible. I still remember the furore of the crowds in the stands; it was crazy! Given that I’ve won each time I’ve competed at the Charléty Stadium, I just love this venue. I’m sure my run will be fast, very fast! ”
The Meeting record of 9’’79 was pocketed by Usain Bolt in 2009 and it matches the time set by the American, which might well inspire him to dig even deeper in 2026. Running alongside Lyles will be some of the world’s top sprinters for what is billed as the ultimate showdown. And for someone who excels in a spectacular environment, the presence of Mondo Duplantis, who will fire up the crowds in the nearby pole vault competition, is sure to help him light up the Charléty track.
