The rapturous welcome she received from the 19,000 spectators at the Charléty stadium last year was truly epic. Not fully fit at the time, the local hurdler with a personal best of 12”31, was treated to an ovation worthy of an Olympic number two. A couple of years on from her incredible silver medal at the Paris Games, she will finally have the chance, this Sunday 28 June, to compete on home soil once again, in front of the capital’s crowd, in what will be only her second appearance at the meeting organised by the French Athletics Federation.
Following a 2025 season disrupted by a range of physical issues, the athlete coached by Tonja Buford-Bailey in Austin (Texas) returned to the track in April for three meetings contested on the African continent to hone her performance. In what promises to be an electric atmosphere, she’ll be looking to raise her game with a major test just over a month before the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham (UK, 10-16 August). The latter competition will see her chasing her second consecutive European title after her 2024 Rome win.
The Wanda Diamond League Meeting de Paris will see her pitted against two major contenders for the title: Swiss hurdler Ditaji Kambundji, world champion extraordinaire in Tokyo (Japan) in 12’’24 (her personal best) last September, and Dutch athlete Nadine Visser (12”28), world indoor number two over the winter in Torun (Poland). Both athletes will be keen to make a statement in Paris.
The international contingent will also be fierce with two of the fastest women in high hurdle history. Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan will perform in Paris with a sizeable prize haul: female world record holder in the 100 m hurdles (12”12), winner of the 2022 Wanda Diamond League Meeting de Paris and reigning world number two. Alongside her, Bahamian Devynne Charlton, double gold medallist at the Worlds over the 60 m hurdles and world indoor record holder (7”65), will be eager to build on her excellent start to the summer season, which earned her a new personal best (12”38) in the first leg of the Wanda Diamond League Shanghai/Keqiao (China).
The meeting record, set last year by the American Grace Stark (12”21), may well be rewritten in front of a rallying Parisian crowd thanks to this showstopping five-star cast.
