Laura Muir produces race of her life to win 1,500m
She may only have finished seventh in the 1,500 final at the Rio Olympics, but tonight at the Stade de France British middle-distance specialist Laura Muir accomplished the greatest run of her life. With a winning time of 3:55:22, the 23-year-old Scot produced the top performance of the season in the event, breaking the British record and the MEETING de PARIS record –held by Yuliya Chizhenko (RUS) since 2006 – in the process. In a race that saw the competing athletes set no fewer than seven personal bests, Muir finished ahead of Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon (3:56:72), who still sits atop the Diamond League standings, and Dutch runner Sifan Hassan (3:57:13).
