Meité captures 100m crown

Ben Youssef Meité enjoyed success in the most high-profile event of the MEETING de PARIS, the 100m, with a strong run that equalled the Ivoirian record.

After finishing sixth in the 100m final at the Rio Olympics, Ben Youssef Meité (CIV) capped off the MEETING de PARIS in style by winning the high-profile sprint in an impressive time of  9:96 seconds, equalling the Ivoirian record in the process. South Africa’s Akani Simbiné, who finished fifth in Rio, came in second (10:00), while Dutchman Churandy Martina (who was eliminated in the heats at the Olympics), put in a season’s best effort to finish third in 10:01. France’s Jimmy Vicaut finished fifth in 10:12. His compatriot, Christophe Lemaitre, was unfortunately forced to pull out at the last minute due to a severe cold.
