The boss on home soil
A very familiar face at the Meeting de Paris, where he’ll be lining up for the sixth time in his career, Pierre-Ambroise will make the most of the Parisian meeting to have one last practice run before he goes off to Doha to defend his world champion title in the 800m. Two legendary legs in Lausanne and Monaco and that of London kicked off a very hot summer for the Diamond Race. We get the low-down on the key performances in July in the run-up to the various national championships.
A high-altitude duel
Two years on, Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Barshim will do battle once again in the Charléty Stadium for the Meeting de Paris on 24 August. The previous duel in Paris, in 2017, was cut short when Tamberi, just back from a serious ankle injury, fluffed his three attempts at the first bar of 2.20m. However, it would be for another time.

Positioned less than 5 weeks before the start of the 2019 Worlds in Doha (27 September to 6 October), the MEETING de PARIS promises to be the MUST meeting on the road to the capital of Qatar. On Saturday 24 August, the French leg of the IAAF Diamond League will offer the public at the Charléty Stadium a line-up which promises a bountiful crop of stellar performances such as Karsten Warholm in 400m hurdles.

The Greek and the American are neck and neck. The MEETING DE PARIS, on Saturday 24 August, might well enable them to score a few more points one month prior to the Worlds.
Claye-Taylor, the sky’s the limit in their triple jump duel
The duel between Christian Taylor, who boasts the finest track record in the history of the modern triple jump competition with two Olympic titles and three gold medals in the Worlds, and Will Claye, his eternal shadow, is sure to tickle your taste buds. The Herculis Monaco meeting already brought them back together in the IAAF Diamond League, on 12 July 2019, with victory going to the former thanks to a jump of 17.82m, or seven centimetres further than his American compatriot.
Robert-Michon to challenge Perkovic in the discus
Mélina Robert-Michon is well behind Sandra Perkovic in their current face-off. However, she’s gaining strength, whilst the Croatian isn’t yet at the peak of fitness. Mélina Robert-Michon and Sandra Perkovic are due to meet at the Charléty Stadium on 24 August. They have already clashed on two occasions this season.
A trio of stars in the 200m
A 3-way match between the young American hotshot of the sprint, the world champion in London and an Olympic medallist in Rio. The poster really gets the imagination going, yet it’s very real.
