France’s athletes rally round the capital
With a little over two months until the Wanda Diamond League Meeting in Paris, due to be hosted on 18 June at the Charléty Stadium, France’s first headliners have been unveiled. Indeed, a series of elite French athletes has already confirmed its presence as we await the big reveal of the major international names they’ll be up against.

The 2022 edition of the Meeting de Paris, which counts towards the Wanda Diamond League, will set the Charléty Stadium alight on Saturday 18 June, with a dream programme on offer, including the men’s pole vault, the men’s 5,000 m and the women’s 100 m.
Duplantis and Thompson-Herah shine
Following a year’s interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Meeting de Paris, the eleventh leg of the Wanda Diamond League, made its big comeback at the Charléty Stadium this Saturday. The competition gave three athletes the chance to secure a Meeting record: Armand Duplantis in the pole vault (the Swede even having a crack at the world record at 6.19 m), Elaine Thompson-Herah in the 100 m and Francine Niyonsaba in the 3,000 m. Virtually across the board, the numerous Olympic medallists in Tokyo managed to hold rank in Paris.

Set to be hosted this Saturday afternoon at the Charléty Stadium by the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme (French Athletics Federation), the Parisian meeting is giving the usual pride of place to its French athletes, who will be competing alongside nearly 30 medal winners from the Tokyo Games. In front of an extremely supportive crowd, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and Gabriel Tual, two men in great shape for this end of season meet, will rank among the athletes to watch from the French contingent, alongside bosses, Renaud Lavillenie and Mélina Robert-Michon.
