Bedrani - Miellet: the revival of French middle-distance running
The history of the Meeting de Paris abounds in sublime performances in the middle-distance races. Among the French contingent, the latest of these have taken place in the 3,000m steeplechase with European records for Bouabdellah Tahri in 2003 (8’06’’91) and Mahiedine Mekhissi in 2013 (8’00’’09). Since then, the French athletes have stayed out of the spotlight.

Karsten Warholm, prince of the 400m hurdles
Norway will be well represented at the Meeting de Paris. Jakob and Filip Ingebrigtsen will be in attendance, but one of the headline acts at the Parisian meeting will be compatriot Karsten Warholm. Securing a new European record twice over in the 400m hurdles (47’’33 in Oslo then 47’’12 in London), he’s sent a clear message to his main rivals, Qatari athlete Abderrahman Samba, the second best performer in history, and American Rai Benjamin, 47’’16 this season.

Three-time world champion (twice indoors and once outdoors), Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, will grace the Meeting de Paris for the first time on Saturday 24 August at the Charléty Stadium. Having just posted the best performance in the world this year at the Pan-American Games (15.11m), it’ll be an opportunity for her to go for the world record.
