The women’s pole vault competition was set to have a particularly stellar set of rounds on the Parisian track. And it did with four athletes jumping 4.75m or more. And proceedings rounded off with a little surprise as victory went to Canadian Alysha Newman. After clearing 4.75m on her first attempt, she gave her all at 4.82m, a bar she erased on her third attempt to secure a national record. Greek athlete Katerina Stefanidi and American Sandi Morris nailed second and third with 4.75m.
