On the hunt for an eighth victory at the MEETING de PARIS, Renaud Lavillenie met his match this Saturday. The world record holder in the pole vault, who is always in search of his best game, has been beaten by American Sam Kendricks. The best performer in the world this year, who cleared 6m last week in Sacramento, has this time taken the win by clearing 5.82m on his second attempt. He then opted to end his competition with victory already in the bag, since Renaud Lavillenie couldn’t better 5.62m. Canadian Shawn Barber (he too with 5.62m, but with more attempts on the scoreboard) completes the podium for this MEETING de PARIS. Kevin Ménaldo and Axel Chapelle cleared 5.52m.
