In 2017, the French Athletics Federation decided to include a triathlon - 110m-hurdles-long jump – on the programme for the MEETING de PARIS. Kevin Mayer, Olympic silver medallist in the decathlon, posted a perfect debut in this event (which doesn’t count towards the Diamond League), winning it in style. From his first throw, the French athlete showed real promise, beating his personal best (66.15m). He did it again on his third attempt, clearing 70m (70.54m) for the first time in his career, to win the competition, ahead of Ashley Bryant (67.07m) and Bastien Auzeil (64.06m). A few minutes later, Mayer continued his form, shattering his personal best by 23 hundredths of a second in the 110m hurdles to take the win in 13’’78, ahead of Dominik Distelberger (14’’19) and Bryant (14’’49). In the long jump, no record this time for Mayer, but a jump of 7.13m, enabled him to finish fourth behind Distelberger (7.47m), Bryant (7.18m) and Axel Martin (7.18m, personal best). Ultimately, Mayer takes the win with 2,746 points, ahead of Bryant (2,677) and Distelberger (2,581).
