The Ingebrigtsen brothers were in it to win it but it was the Ugandan Ronald Musagala who nailed it in the final of the 1,500m. With one lap to go till the finish, it was impossible to choose a favourite and it was in the final sprint where victory was ultimately decided. To Ronald Musagala’s delight, he bagged a national record and a personal best. Third place was played out between the two Ingebrigtsen brothers with Filip getting the better of his younger sibling Jakob, the second best performer of the world this season (3’31’’06 compared with 3’31’’33). Frenchman Alexis Miellet finished fifteenth in 3’38’’94, a far cry from his season’s best, after a complicated race from start to finish.
