Nikoleta Kiriakopoulou is the new leader of the Diamond League for the women’s pole vault, thanks to her victory this Saturday at the MEETING AREVA. The 29-year old Greek athlete, third in the European championships 2012, has pulled off the competition of her life, erasing a jump of 4.83m on her first attempt. The native of Athens has thus improved on her Greek record by three centimetres, setting the best time in the world this year and equalling the Diamond League record. Cuban Yarisley Silva, who cleared 4.73m on her first attempt, finished second. The Brazilian, Fabiana Murer and Russian Anzhelika Sidorova tied in third with a jump of 4.63m. Meantime, French athlete Marion Lotout cleared 5.53m and placed seventh.
