With four throws in excess of 22m (22.44m, 22.10m, 22.21m, 22.31m), the reigning world champion Tomas Walsh stunned spectators at the Charléty stadium again this Saturday. Thanks to an excellent introduction in the form of a 22.44m throw on his first attempt, he won the competition with a season’s best and beat his own meeting record (22.00m) set in 2016.
American Joe Kovacs finished second with a throw of 22.11m on his third attempt, the only competitor after Walsh to have thrown over 22m. Brazilian Darlan Romani completed the podium with 21.56m. Frenchman Frédéric Dagée finished in ninth place with 20.24m.
