Leading the race from beginning to end, the European record holder maintained his thirteen strides right up to the final obstacle, just as he did in the national championships, crossing the line over a second ahead of his pursuers. Second place went to Ludvy Vaillant, who got the better of the athlete from the British Virgin Islands Kyron McMaster (48’’33) after an indecisive home straight. In so doing, the Frenchman nailed a new personal best in 48’’30 making a great impression with one month to go till the Worlds in Doha for which he’d already secured the minimum requirement. Fourth at the European Championships in Berlin in 2018, he’s clearly raising his game this season. His compatriot Wilfried Happio didn’t make the start.
