McBride takes victory

Canadian Brandon McBride has won the 800m in 1’43’’78 after a hotly disputed race at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Paris.

Powering off the start line, 48’’90 in the first 400m, ultimately it was Canadian Brandon McBride who took the win in 1’43’’78, his season’s best. Puerto Rican Wesley Vazquez bagged the national record and second place in 1’43’’83, hot on the heels of the day’s champion. Kenyan Michael Saruni completes the podium in 1’44’’41. Reigning world champion Pierre-Ambroise Bosse had to make do with sixth in 1’45’’07, his season’s best.
