Michael Mason top of the pack

The bouquet for the high jump competition has landed in the arms of Canadian Michael Mason thanks to a stellar performance that peaked at 2.28m.

The withdrawals of Mutaz Essa Barshim and Gianmarco Tamberi enabled the other participants to shine at the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Paris. Canadian Michael Mason enjoyed the perfect competition, clearing all his bars on the first attempt until he suffered three fails at 2.30m. His rivals couldn’t beat that. Ukrainian Andriy Protsenko posted his season’s best with 2.28m on his third attempt. Ilya Ivanyuk also cleared 2.28m on the third time of asking, earning him a place on the podium.
