Kenya’s Edwin Cheruiyot Soi posted the fastest time in the world this year in winning the men’s 5000m at the MEETING AREVA.

Emulating his fellow countryman Kiprop in the 800m earlier this evening, Kenya’s Edwin Cheruiyot Soi ran a world best for the year in the men’s 5000m, stopping the clock in a time of 12:59.82. Taking second place behind him was Diamond Race frontrunner Yenew Alamirew of Ethiopia, who came home in 13:00.21, his best of the year. Paul Kipngetich Tanui of Kenya was third, setting a new PB of 13:00.53, while Bob Tahri, the only French runner in the field, dropped out.
