Usain Bolt and Renaud Lavillenie topping the bill

A few days ago, the Doha meeting set the tone with a host of fabulous performances for this first meeting of the Diamond League 2014, including a 3'29"18 time by the double world 1,500m champion, Kenyan Asbel Kiprop and, most strikingly, the 2.41m cleared by Ivan Ukhov in the high jump. In Paris, the event’s stars are fronting posters dotted all about the capital and the surrounding area. Indeed from 12 May, locals to the region will see Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, and Renaud Lavillenie, the new world pole vault champion, headline a second wave of communication for what promises to be a tantalizing event on 5 July 2014.

POSTER CAMPAIGN
These new visuals will adorn the following surfaces:

 – 370 faces measuring 120*176. The duo in stations across Paris and the surrounding area from 19 to 25 May

- 2,220 faces gracing the right-hand side of buses from 23 to 29 May

- Signage situated along the seating element of the French Athletics Federation venue, level with the Porte de Gentilly (visible from the ring road)

A second wave of posters is scheduled from 9 June:

– 350 faces measuring 320*240 on Paris town hall’s Decaux bill posting network from 18 June to 1 July

- A presence in the metro system and 4X3 bill posting in Paris and the surrounding region.

The MEETING AREVA will also have a presence thanks to a web campaign spanning over a thousand sites and numerous advertising slots in the press*.

TICKETING
The announcement a few weeks ago that two global stars will be competing at the event appears to have boosted ticket sales. Indeed, the organisers are announcing a significant rallying together of the athletics family, the upshot of which has been a 10% boost in sales compared with the same time in 2013 – an edition where Bolt’s appearance had already been announced – the Lavillenie effect in force perhaps?
