The love affair between Paris and Mondo Duplantis is as strong as ever. Indeed, the Swede is due to make his fourth appearance at the Wanda Diamond League Meeting de Paris on Sunday 28 June, for the delight of athletics fans. During his last performance at Charléty in 2024, he secured the win after clearing 6 m. A few weeks later, he set a new world record of 6.25 m during his Olympic victory at the Stade de France. Duplantis has held the meeting record since 2021, when he jumped 6.01 m at just 22 years of age.
The double Olympic champion and triple world champion will be one of the star attractions at France’s biggest athletics meet and will likely be competing against some of the top pole vaulters nationwide and worldwide. The perfect context then to make a fresh bid for the new world record, which currently stands at 6.30 m.
“I love France and Paris is a place where I feel at home and have lots of fond memories, explains Mondo. My victory at the 2024 Games is still etched on my mind and I really hope I can put on something special for the Parisian crowd, who are fine connoisseurs of pole vaulting.”
To give pole vault fans the opportunity to get up close and personal to the competition, the Fédération Française d’Athlétisme is dividing the stadium up into five categories, one of them being dedicated to the pole vault competition. From 25 euros per person, bag a ringside seat, right beside the jumping pit, for your chance to admire the legend that is Duplantis!
The ticket office opens this Wednesday 11 March so don’t miss this historic occasion.
