Lavillenie / Powell, two stars ready to set the Stade de France alight
The stars are out in Paris. And they’re making the most of the venue. Renaud Lavillenie and Asafa Powell, two of the hottest names in world athletics, each kicked off the MEETING AREVA 2015 in style this Thursday 2 July. Indeed, the French pole vaulter and the Jamaican sprinter jumped… onto a boat, on the River Seine, to head off to the press conference to launch the French stage of the IAAF Diamond League, organised in a room steeped in history within Paris’ Hôtel de Ville. It was an experience the former 100m record holder seemed to relish. “Over recent years, I haven’t really had the opportunity to play the tourist during my stays in Paris, admitted Asafa Powell, beaming from ear to ear. This year, I want to take the time out to enjoy it a little more.”

Usain Bolt cancels his participation in the MEETING AREVA.
Six times Olympic Champion Usain Bolt today informed the organisers of the Paris and Lausanne Diamond League meetings that he will be unable to compete in their events on July 4 and July 9. The 28 year old Jamaican has been feeling discomfort in his left leg since his last competition which has restricted his training. He visited Doctor Müller-Wohlfahrt in Munich who confirmed that he has a blocked sacroiliac joint which is restricting his movement and putting pressure on his knee and ankle. Usain will spend the next couple of days in Munich getting treatment after which he will resume full training in his quest to defend his titles at the IAAF World T&F Championships in Beijing at the end of August. "I'm disappointed not to be able to compete in Paris and Lausanne. I love running at these meetings but at the moment I am unable to compete at 100%. I look forward to getting back into full training as soon as possible", said Bolt.

Ayana/Dibaba, hand in hand in pursuit of the record
The event is scheduled for 21:32pm on the dot, on Saturday 4 July 2015 at the Stade de France. Two young women aged 23 and 24 years old, Almaz Ayana and Genzebe Dibaba, will combine their strides, their strength and their ambitions in a bid to smash the world record in the 5,000m. The two Ethiopians, the two stars of the world middle distance running for women, have agreed to compete together at the MEETING AREVA to tackle the time of 14’11’’15 set by Tirunesh Dibaba in 2008 in Oslo.

A festive edition packed with surprises !
The 2015 edition of the MEETING AREVA, on Saturday 4 July at the Stade de France, promises to be explosive on the track. With a line-up gathering together some of the top stars from world athletics (Usain Bolt, Renaud Lavillenie, Kirani James, Aries Merritt, Asafa Powell, Mutaz Barshim, Almaz Ayana and Valerie Adams…), records will be in peril in a fair few events. In addition to Renaud Lavillenie, the presence of France’s top names, (Jimmy Vicaut, Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and Kafétien Gomis…), will add a sumptuous French twist to the Paris event.

World records set to tremble !
A heady record aroma will pervade the Stade de France track, on Saturday 4 July 2015, for the next edition of the MEETING AREVA. Indeed, the French leg of the IAAF Diamond League has become accustomed to mixing it with the big names of world athletics and France’s top athletes. This year, the evening has the added appeal of at least four world records in serious danger of tumbling. The main ‘threat’ is centred on the men’s high jump, pole vault and 110m hurdles, plus the women’s 5,000m. Four scheduled highlights of a meeting, which is sure to boast endless opportunities for glory.
